Students Inducted Into World Languages Honor Societies

On Wednesday, May 1, the World Languages Department gathered in the Ellenberg Library to induct students into the American Sign Language (ASL), Chinese, French, and Spanish Honor Societies.
To be inducted into any world language honor society at Canterbury, inductees must be of junior or senior standing and: earn at least a 3.5 weighted GPA, complete at least two years of the language course, earn an A- or higher in each semester, record of leadership, service, and citizenship in school and the community, and receive approval from the Department of World Languages. 
 
Dr. Mary Smith, World Languages Department Head, opened the ceremony by welcoming students and parents. The National Chinese Honor Society was the first to induct its students, followed by the French Honor Society (La Société Honoraire de Français), Spanish Honor Society (Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica), and ASL Honor Society.
