A group of our Middle School students is showcasing the importance of giving back to those in need. Kristina P. ’24 started the nonprofit club called Kids Care Disaster Relief to help those victims impacted by Hurricane Michael by selling custom bracelets.

Congratulations are in order for a group of our students who competed in the 2018 Florida Gulf Coast University Invitational Mathematics Competition on December 14. Our team won third place in the Algebra I division!
This semester fourth-graders at Canterbury enjoyed their first project with our LIFT OFF Entrepreneur Program. The goal of this program is to help our students develop the skills necessary for our world’s 21st-century economy: collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and adaptability.

Canterbury School and FineMark National Bank & Trust announce a ten-year community partnership giving FineMark the naming rights to Canterbury’s new athletic field. FineMark Field will be the new name of the Cougars new football, soccer, and lacrosse field.

Canterbury School is proud to be participating in this year’s Edison and Ford Winter Estates Children’s Tree Trail. This event is part of the annual Holiday Nights celebration held at the Edison and Ford Winter Estates. It includes a collection of more than 60 trees decorated with handmade ornaments from students across Lee County.
On October 9, 2018, Canterbury School released its official 2017-18 ACT and SAT scores. In comparison to national, state, and local scores, Canterbury students scored higher in subject categories and in the overall composite.
Twenty students represented Canterbury at the University of Central Florida’s Model United Nations Conference on October 26-28, 2018. Our students performed well with six of them honored with top awards.
Congratulations to Bryce E. ’19 and Hannah G. ’19 on being named 2018 Wendy’s High School Heisman School Winners! Bryce has also been named a 2018 State Finalist and will find out on November 7 if he has been selected as a 2018 State Winner.

We would like to recognize our Varsity Swimming team for their performance at the Class 1A-District 9 swimming meet on Tuesday, October 30, at Community School of Naples. Our girls placed eighth as a team and our boys placed fourth.
Canterbury's annual ThanksgivingFoodDrive for the Nations Association is officially underway. Each year, our school's generosity ensures that dozens of local families in need will have enough food for the week of Thanksgiving. In order for this fooddrive to be successful, it is extremely important that each grade level bring in all of their assigned food.

Canterbury School invites our community to see the award-winning play by Cherie Bennett: Zink: The Myth, the Legend, the Zebra, performed by our Middle School Theatre students. The show will open in Canterbury's Performing Arts Center on Thursday, October 4, at 7:30 p.m. and continue on Friday, October 5 and Saturday, October 6 at the same time. The show is free and open to the public.

Canterbury’s Varsity Cross Country team took their training on the road this summer for a special camp in Georgia and North Carolina. Coach Charlotte Edwards shared that the team enjoyed the cooler weather as they tackled challenging mountain trails.

On Friday, June 8, 2018, Middle School students, parents, and faculty gathered in the Performing Arts Center to celebrate the accomplishments of those preparing to leave the Middle School. Students were welcomed by Middle School Director Mrs. Jackie Lentini before receiving a message from the Head of Upper School, Mr. Carl Melamet.
This school year six faculty and staff members retired following successful careers at Canterbury School. Together these faculty and staff members contributed more than 100 years of service to our great school.
Canterbury School would like to congratulate our students for a phenomenal performance in The National French Contest, Le Grand Concours. This annual competition is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. Students of French in grades 1-12, in all 50 states and abroad, take a written test and compete against students with similar educational backgrounds for prizes.
Congratulations to our Varsity Baseball team on winning their third straight Class 3A state championship! On Thursday, May 24, 2018, our Cougars won 6-1 over Tallahassee North Florida Christian School, finishing the season with a 27-5 record.

Students from Canterbury’s Upper School community excelled in the Regional HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) Competition held on January 27 at South Fort Myers High School. HOSA gives students an opportunity to study and acquire skills in more than 50 different fields related to medical science. Canterbury’s chapter was created earlier this year by Emily J. ’20.

Several Canterbury students won top awards at the Thomas Alva Edison Regional Inventors Fair. The competition took place Saturday, January 20, at Alico Arena on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University.
In December, Canterbury School welcomed back Dr. JoAnn Deak, an internationally known educator and psychologist with more than 30 years experience, to campus to share the latest research on brain development. She had previously visited campus as part of our Speakers Series in August of 2015.
We are gearing up for another Canterbury tradition - our 34th Annual Marathon! Through this school-wide event, our students raise money for worthy causes by running and walking. New this year, our Upper School students will be participating in a dance marathon. All events will take place on Friday, January 26, 2018. The full schedule can be found below. This year our students’ efforts will benefit the American Heart Association and The Heights Foundation.
