Spot Red Flags Be aware when an adult or another child: - Uses mean or abusive words - Touches you in a hurtful way - Touches your private parts or asks you to touch theirs - Plays games or tricks involving private body parts - Asks you to keep an unsafe secret - Gives you special gifts or attention - Tries to get you to use drugs or alcohol - Makes you feel scared, uncomfortable, or guilty about telling someone
Red Flags Online Messages from strangers. Inappropriate or unsafe content. Remember: Safety rules apply online, too!
Make a Move Get away and stay away from unsafe situations.
Talk It Up Identify safe adults you can talk to. Use a strong voice to say "No!" Understand body boundaries. Know the difference between tattling and reporting.
No Blame, No Shame Abuse is never a child’s fault. You can always talk to a safe adult about anything that hurts or confuses you.
Parents will receive a folder with information and worksheets to help continue these important conversations at home.
