Athlete of the Week: October 28-November 3, 2024

Congratulations to Carlie M. ’28 on being selected as our Athlete of the Week for October 28-November 3, 2024!
"We are nominating Carlie Miller for athlete of the week for her performance at the 1A Region 3 meet this past Thursday in Lakeland. Carlie was our 5th varsity runner across the finish line." says Coach Ryan.

"In Cross Country it could be argued that your 5th runners performance is the most important as they are the final runner that counts for team points. The faster they finish the better the team performs as a whole. Carlie was ranked 109th going into Regionals and ended up finishing 73rd overall out of 224 girls. She needed to step it up for our team to do well and move onto States and she did just that. She ended up running faster than 36 girls that were ranked ahead of her and that made a huge impact on our team score which helped the girls team claim their spot at the State meet."

"For the year and a half I have been coaching Carlie, she has always stepped it up when it counts most. Besides her performance that day, she has been extremely dedicated this year - even meeting me at 5:00am for practice to get her workout in early so she could still be a part of the theater team and play her role there as well. She is a fighter, a true team player, and a gutsy runner overall. We are so thankful she is a part of our team and we look forward to her success in the future!" says Coach Ryan.

Go Carlie and Go Cougars!
