Leena A. ’27 Leads Project Linus Event at Canterbury

On Friday, December 6, 2024, Canterbury School’s Ellenberg Library buzzed with activity as students gathered for a special Project Linus volunteer event led by Leena A. ’27. The turnout exceeded all expectations, with students working together to craft an incredible 130 blankets for children in need.
Reflecting on the event's success, Leena shared, “I’m so thankful for every student that came to help us in our mission. The turnout of students was more than I ever anticipated. The gift of giving always means a little more during this time of year, so to be able to come together for something bigger than ourselves is truly special.”

This heartwarming accomplishment builds on the foundation Leena established last year when she launched Canterbury’s Project Linus Club—the first of its kind in Southwest Florida. The club partners with Project Linus, a national organization dedicated to providing handmade blankets to children facing illness or trauma. Locally, the Lee County Chapter supports organizations such as Golisano Children’s Hospital, Valerie’s House, the Children’s Advocacy Center, ACT, the Children’s Home Society of Florida, and the Fort Myers Police Department.

Leena’s passion for helping others shines through in every Project Linus event. “Just a simple blanket can mean the world to these kids and bring them a sense of happiness, security, and hope,” she remarked earlier this year. “And to have the opportunity to do that and bring a smile upon their faces is truly something special.”

Thank you to all the students, faculty, and community members who contributed their time, energy, and care. Your generosity will bring warmth and comfort to children in need this holiday season.
