Ismaeel Z. ’30 Wins Middle School Spelling Bee

Congratulations to Ismaeel Z. ’30 on winning the 2025 Canterbury Middle School Spelling Bee!
Seventeen talented spellers from grades 5-8 competed in the school-wide event, which took place on Monday, February 3, in the Performing Arts Center. Each competitor had previously secured a spot by excelling in their English class competition.

The competition was fierce, narrowing down to an exciting final showdown between Ismaeel Z. ’30 and Vivaan R. ’31. In a thrilling spell-off, Ismaeel clinched the victory by correctly spelling the championship word: translucent.

Both Ismaeel and Vivaan will now advance to the Regional Spelling Bee, representing Canterbury on March 25 at 7:00 p.m. at Three Oaks Middle School.

Congratulations to Ismaeel, Vivaan, and all of our outstanding spellers on an un-BEE-lievable competition!
