21 Inducted into Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica

Sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese, the Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica recognizes “high achievement in Spanish or Portuguese and promotes the continuity of interest in Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian studies.”

On March 6, 2017, 21 Canterbury students became the newest members of this society. The second oldest honor society on campus, this year’s induction marks the 27th class of new members! For induction, students must be a sophomore or higher and maintain an average of 90 percent for three consecutive semesters in advanced Spanish classes. They are also required to have a Spanish teacher(s) endorsement. A list of inductees is included below.
This year’s induction also included a special celebration called “Noche de fiesta”, which included a chef preparing a paella for everyone in attendance. Students also held a dress rehearsal of their performance for the Florida State Spanish Competition.
