Canterbury's Model UN Team Shines at VikingMUN Conference

Preston F. ’25 represented Liam Gallagher on the Irish side of the Joint Crisis Committee and debated how to stop the Italian mob. Gallagher actively engaged with fellow delegates and passed many directives. Gallagher demonstrated his commitment to helping the city of Chicago by becoming the Mayor of Chicago, securing its future by putting Al Capone on trial, and giving him the maximum sentence. Preston received the Best Delegate Award for his efforts. Great job, Preston!

 

Natalia R. ’27 represented Canada on the ECOSOC committee. She debated the topics of poverty and climate change in the developing world. Canada actively engaged with fellow delegates and was able to draft the T.H.R.I.V.E. resolution. She was able to speak on topics of education, and innovative and sustainable solutions. Canada formed a block with other member states such as the USA and Cuba and ultimately came up with many solutions for this pressing issue. Natalia was awarded the Best Delegate Award for her efforts! Congratulations, Natalia!

 

Niki P. ’27 represented The United States of America in the SOCHUM committee. She debated the topic of adolescent substance abuse. The United States discussed and collaborated with other nations greatly and was able to pass the REAL paper. Niki received an Outstanding Delegate Award for her efforts. Well done, Niki!

 

Jacques M. ’26 represented Marco Vitale in the JCC Italian committee and debated the topic of the Irish vs Italian mob. Marco Vitale actively engaged with fellow delegates and passed multiple directives. They were able to successfully win the JCC against the Irish side. Marco Vitale demonstrated his commitment to fighting for the Italian side. Jacques received an Outstanding Delegate Award. Congratulations, Jacques!

Anayah C. ’27 represented Mexico in the SOCHUM committee and debated the topics of Adolescent Substance Use. Mexico actively engaged with fellow delegates and passed the R.E.A.L. paper. She was able to encourage member nations to create education programs to prevent future adolescent substance use and utilize medical-based infrastructures to advocate for adolescents' mental health and revert overdoses or mitigate substance use effects. Anayah received a Verbal Commendation for her efforts. Great Job, Anayah!

 

Lauren T. ’26 represented Rosa Martino in the JCC Committee and fought on the side of the Italians against the Irish in the 1920s prohibition crisis. She was able to wrestle control from the Irish and bring many corrupt members to justice. Lauren received a Verbal Commendation for her efforts. Congratulations, Lauren!

 

Phoebe M. ’26 represented Maria Caruso on the Italian side in the Italians vs. Irish Prohibition Joint-Crisis Committee. She helped sponsor and pass directives to lead protests against Irish-led discrimination, boycott Irish businesses, and lead attacks against the Irish mob. She also started a successful restaurant chain that used questionable ingredients. Well done, Phoebe!
