Canterbury Students Shine at Florida Music Educators’ Association All-State Music Convention
Three talented Canterbury students—Chris M. ’25, Riya S. ’29, and Liam T. ’29—recently represented the school at the prestigious Florida Music Educators Association (FMEA) All-State Music Convention, held January 8-11, 2025, in Tampa.
Chris M. ’25, a flutist, was selected for the All-State High School Honors Band.
Riya S. ’29, a violinist, earned a spot in the All-State Middle School Honors Orchestra.
Liam T. ’29, a clarinetist, was chosen for the All-State Middle School Honors Band.
Being selected for the FMEA All-State Music Ensembles is a remarkable achievement, as it acknowledges these students as among the top young musicians in Florida. Their selection is a testament not only to their exceptional technical skills but also to their commitment, discipline, and passion for music.
At the FMEA Convention, these students had the unique opportunity to rehearse and perform challenging, high-quality repertoire under the direction of expert conductors. In addition to honing their musical abilities, they connected with other talented musicians from across the state, making this a truly transformative experience for both personal and artistic growth. The convention also allowed them to perform before a distinguished audience of music educators, further showcasing their talents.
We congratulate Chris, Riya, and Liam for their outstanding accomplishments and are excited to see their musical journeys continue to flourish!
