Two Standouts, One Week: Chase K. ’25 and Isabel C. ’30 Named Athletes of the Week
This week, we’re doubling the celebration as two remarkable Cougars earn Athlete of the Week honors for April 14–20, 2025. Congratulations to Chase K. ’25 and Isabel C. ’30, two lacrosse stars who delivered unforgettable performances in their teams’ district championship runs!
Chase K. ’25 turned in a performance for the ages during last week’s district lacrosse playoffs. In the semifinal against Cypress Lake, Chase tallied 2 goals and 1 assist to help lift the Cougars to a decisive win. But it was in the district championship where he truly stole the show, erupting for 5 goals and 1 assist, including 3 clutch goals in the fourth quarter, as Canterbury pulled off a thrilling 12–11 comeback victory to claim the district title.
“Chase is the kind of player every coach hopes to have,” said Head Coach Trent Carter. “He leads by example, shows up in the biggest moments, and never takes a play off. His performance in the district final was one of the gutsiest I’ve ever seen.”
A true leader on and off the field, Chase is also celebrating his next chapter—Signing Day—as he officially commits to continue his academic and athletic career at Penn College. Congratulations to Chase and the entire boys lacrosse team on their championship season!
On the girls side, Isabel C. ’30 continues to defy expectations—and opponents. The seventh grader led the varsity girls lacrosse team to their second straight district championship with back-to-back dominant playoff performances. Isabel scored 7 goals in the semifinal against Bishop Verot and exploded for 8 more in the final against Fort Myers—15 goals in two games to help secure the title.
“She’s unstoppable,” said Head Coach Liz Corrente. “Isabel brings an intensity and maturity to the field that’s rare at any age, let alone in a seventh grader. Her drive, skill, and love for the game inspire everyone around her.”
With 62 goals this season and more than 100 career goals already under her belt, Isabel currently leads the district and is a contender for News-Press Athlete of the Week. She’s proving that greatness has no minimum age.
Congratulations to both Chase K. ’25 and Isabel C. ’30, and to their teammates and coaches, on incredible seasons and well-deserved honors!
