Lower School Inventors Shine at Regional Fair

Our Lower School students wowed the judges with their creativity and problem-solving skills at the Thomas Edison Regional Inventors Fair on Saturday, February 1, at Florida Gulf Coast University. Their innovative projects earned well-deserved recognition at the awards ceremony on Monday, February 3, at Edison Park Elementary School.

First Grade

First Place – Swara S. ’36 – Science Dolls
Florida Invention Convention Invitation
Scientists' Society of Southwest Florida Award
Swara combined her love for science and dolls to create Science Dolls, featuring Marie Curie and Dmitri Mendeleev. This innovative approach makes science more engaging and accessible for young learners.

Second Place – Elin S. ’36 – Boxi Bed
Florida Invention Convention Invitation
Elin designed the Boxi Bed, a bedding solution that helps kids make their beds neatly and easily every time.

Second Grade

Second Place – Ivaan S. ’35 – Hurricage: Shielding Homes and Saving Lives
Ivaan developed a hurricane defense system that deploys at the push of a button, protecting homes and saving lives.

Honorable Mention – Lily K. ’35 – Bravery Pals
Lily created an app to support children with food allergies, encouraging bravery and motivation throughout their treatment journey.

Special Award – “If You Can Dream It, You Can Do It!”
Austin W. ’35 & Sutton I. ’35 – Smart Glove
Austin and Sutton designed a football glove that allows quarterbacks to send text-based plays to their teammates’ gloves, enhancing communication on the field.

Fourth Grade

Michael C. ’33 & Banks B. ’33 – Duck Island
Michael and Banks developed Duck Island, a protected space designed to safeguard duck eggs from predatory turtles.

We are incredibly proud of all our participants and look forward to celebrating them at the Lower School Assembly on March 20, at 1:30 p.m. in Canterbury’s Performing Arts Center.
