Canterbury Student Musicians Shine in Inaugural Private 8 Honor Band

Canterbury School proudly congratulates our 21 talented Middle and Upper School musicians who participated in the inaugural Private 8 Honor Band! This prestigious event brought together outstanding student musicians from five private schools in Southwest Florida—Canterbury, First Baptist Academy, Southwest Florida Christian Academy, Community School of Naples, and Seacrest Country Day School—for a collaborative and inspiring musical experience.
After an evening rehearsal followed by a full day of preparation, the students performed a beautiful concert under the guidance of expert guest band clinicians. The event on March 20, 2025, showcased not only their musical talent but also their dedication and professionalism.

“Our students rose to the challenge with remarkable professionalism and hard work,” said Canterbury Upper School Band Director Zach Deeter. “They embraced the opportunity to collaborate with peers from other schools and delivered an outstanding performance.”

Middle School Band Director Matthew Murrell echoed the sentiment, adding, “This was a fantastic experience for our students. They grew as musicians and as an ensemble, and we are excited to see this event continue to grow in the years to come.”
