Wrestling Surprises at FHSAA Dual Districts
The Canterbury varsity boys wrestling team surprised critics at the 2024 FHSAA Dual Districts on Friday, January 5, at First Baptist Academy in Naples.
The team came into the competition seeded in 10th place, but with a lot of gutsy performances, the squad finished 6th overall!
"I was so proud of our entire team," said head coach Tariq Humes." Everyone showed heart and determination. That work ethic was crucial in helping us win 3 of 5 duals."
The Cougars picked up team wins over Gateway Charter High School, Southwest Florida Christian Academy, and Evangelical Christian School. Highlight of the day was junior Harry D. '25 going 4-1 and finishing top 3 in his weight class. Other notable performances include Jack B. '24 (3-2), Pierce F. '27 (3-2), and Stone C. '26 (3-2).
