Athlete of the Week: January 8-14, 2024
Congratulations to varsity boys soccer player Diego B. '26 on being selected as our Athlete of the Week for the week of January 8-14, 2024.
The sophomore striker has become a key piece in the Canterbury attack, scoring six goals and adding one assist in the past four games. Diego helped lead the Cougars to a first-round win in the Private 8 Championships over Southwest Florida Christian Academy, netting 3 goals in the 4-0 win.
"Diego has really embraced his role in the attacking line, adding a new energy to our offense," said head boys soccer coach Jared Rust. "Diego is playing his best soccer at the right time. It is fun to watch."
Rust also added, "All of the players are elevating their game, with laser focus on the preparation for the district tournament and making another run in the playoffs."
The varsity boys soccer team will travel to Bishop Verot High School on Friday, January 19 to defend its Private 8 Championship title. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. against the Vikings.
