Thank You for an Unforgettable Founders Day Homecoming Reunion Weekend 2024
Jennifer Idelson '01
Canterbury’s Founders Day Homecoming Reunion Weekend 2024 was a tremendous success! Festivities kicked off on Friday morning, October 18, featuring keynote speakers the Honorable Porter Goss, recipient of the David Lucas Award for Outstanding Service to Canterbury, and Distinguished Alumni recipient Dr. Elisabeth Hon Hunt, Class of 1999. The celebration concluded with a campus tour, a student-led panel, and an award luncheon. It was a joy to welcome alumni back to campus to celebrate the founding of our incredible school—Canterbury.
More than 60 alumni, parents of alumni, and friends of Canterbury gathered for the BESTIES, BBQ, & BREWS alumni dinner on Friday night. The evening began with lawn games, snow cones, Cougar tattoos, beer and wine, and a buffet dinner. The excitement grew as Canterbury’s band joined for the annual alumni photo. Alumni enjoyed a special fire-throwing performance before BJ Rosinus ’01, Canterbury Alumni Board President, took the field for the coin toss. After a spirited homecoming football game, alumni gathered for Canterbury Cocktails at The Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa.

The festivities continued Saturday morning, October 19, as alumni from the Classes of 1999, 2001, 2002, 2004, and 2005 gathered for Canterbury Cabana—a time filled with laughter, lounging, and reminiscing over yearbooks. The weekend concluded with the Canterbury Campfire, where alumni came together one last time to enjoy good company and s’mores.
Each year, the number of alumni returning for Founders Day Homecoming Reunion Weekend grows, and this year was no exception. Special thanks to Sarah (Spear) Sands ’99 and Lance Dunford ’04 for leading their class reunions, and to Canterbury’s Alumni Board, led by BJ Rosinus ’01 and Jonathan Spellman ’05, whose dedication and involvement were key to making the weekend a success. To everyone who traveled to be here or adjusted weekend plans to join us—thank you for making this weekend so memorable. Your presence speaks volumes about the strength of the Canterbury community and the enduring connections that make our school truly special. Thank you!
