Athlete of the Week: January 2-7, 2024
Congratulations to varsity wrestler Harry D. '25 on being selected as our Athlete of the Week for the week of January 2-7, 2024.
The junior heavyweight helped lead the Cougar boys wrestling team to a win over Gateway Charter in the first round of the FHSAA Dual Districts last Friday at First Baptist Academy in Naples.
The team win hinged on Harry's performance, and he delivered, pinning his opponent to solidify the win for the Cougars. Harry went on to win 4 of 5 matches and finished Top 3 in his weight class.
"I am so proud of Harry and the entire squad," said head coach Tariq Humes. "Harry delivered when his team needed him most. He left it all out on the mat... I could not of asked for anything more."
As a team, the Cougars boys wrestling team went on to win 3 of 5 duals and finished 6th overall (after coming into the tournament seeded 10th)!
